    May 3, 2017, 6:15 PM - 7:15 PM @ Library

Inspired by true events, "For Their Own Good" is historical fiction that reveals the murky, often terrifying world of 19th century insane asylums and the treatment of women. Touted as havens for patients receiving innovative treatments, the hospitals confined society's powerless, whether insane or not. As a counselor, teacher, and trainer, author Bradette Michel learned a lot about human behavior, which she now connects with her dark imagination to create plots and characters. "For Their Own Good" won second in the Florida Writers Association's 2013 Royal Palm Literary Awards historical fiction category. Registration required. To register visit www.cityofparkland.org/library or call (954)757-4207.
