The City of Parkland has a governing body, whereby the members are elected by the voters. The City’s Charter stipulates the terms of office and the frequency of the elections.
Candidate Qualifying - The criteria required for an elected office is contingent upon the requisites of the level of the office desired. For candidates running for Municipal offices, the qualifying officer is the Municipal Clerk. All campaign documents are therefore filed with the Municipal Clerk.
The City Commission adopted Ordinance 2019-019, Nov. 6, 2019, requiring all announced candidates to file monthly campaign treasurer documents through an EFS (Electronic Filing System). Reports can be viewed at https://www.voterfocus.com/CampaignFinance/candidate_pr.php?c=munparkland. Reports filed prior to Dec. 1, 2019, are available to view on the City’s Public Records Web Portal. Campaign Treasurer Reports are due in accordance with Florida Statutes 106.07. Except as provided in paragraphs (a) and (b), reports shall be filed on the 10th day following the end of each calendar month from the time the campaign treasurer is appointed, except that, if the 10th day following the end of a calendar month occurs on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the report shall be filed on the next following day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.
