Parks and Recreation
To provide City-wide recreational, cultural, educational and athletic services, programs and events for all age groups in the most safe, efficient and cost effective manner to enhance the quality of life for the Parkland community.
Our Core Services:
Oversees all Parks & Recreation divisions including recreation programs, senior activities, pavilion rentals, special events, City recognized sports leagues, tennis programs and concession services. This division is also responsible for handling all general administrative needs for the Department, working with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and responds to related questions, complaints and comments by the residents.
City Recognized Sports Leagues:
All sports leagues are run by private organizations within the City of Parkland and utilize City fields. The City is responsible for the scheduling of fields and ensuring that the field scheduling website is updated with current information. The City also issues short term permits for residents to utilize City fields for non-sports league events.
The City of Parkland Tennis Program operates out of the Parkland Tennis Center at Quigley Park and is provided on a contractual basis. The goal is to offer a variety of tennis programs and events for all abilities and levels of play and to present a professional tennis support staff in a clean and well-organized facility. The contracted Tennis Director oversees and manages the teaching staff in order to provide proper instruction and professionalism and offers a wide variety of tennis lessons and league play for all ages.
Provides concessions in City parks which are provided on a contractual basis. The concession contractor provides park patrons during peak hours with a quality product as well as exceptional customer service. There are also a variety of vending machines that can be utilized anytime throughout the parks.
Parkland Recreation & Enrichment Center and Amphitheater:
The Parkland Recreation & Enrichment Center (P-REC) and Amphitheater was completed in January 2008. The P-REC is a 24, 000 square foot community center that has an indoor gymnasium, fitness room, aerobics room and several multi-purpose activity rooms. This facility offers a variety of recreational, educational and cultural enrichment classes and programs. The P-REC also offers a variety of fitness programs and senior activities. The amphitheater provides residents with a large outdoor facility in which to enjoy live music, shows and events.
The City hosts a wide variety of special events for residents throughout the year. Events include: one of Broward County’s largest Farmers’ Market, Halloween Festival, Movies in the Park, Snowfest, Hayrides and a variety of others. Events such as these provide residents a place to gather for a good time with friends and family. This division also is responsible for processing and coordinating special event permits for local organizations and groups that want to host their own event in the City of Parkland.
Pavilions are available for Parkland residents at several parks throughout the City: Pine Trails Park, Terramar Park, Liberty Park and the Equestrian Center at Temple Park. Reservation permits are required when utilizing on weekend and City Holidays. The pavilions are on a first-come, first-serve basis during the week.
