Parks and Recreation

Our Mission:

To provide City-wide recreational, cultural, educational and athletic activities, programs and events for all age groups to enhance the quality of life for the Parkland community in the most safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Our Core Services:

Administrative Division:

Oversees all Parks & Recreation divisions and responsible for handling all general administrative needs for the Department including with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and management of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

Athletics:

The Athletics Division is responsible for coordinating the sports league activities. All sports leagues are run by private organizations within the City of Parkland that utilize City fields. This division also issues short term permits for residents to utilize City fields for non-sports league activities. In addition to the sports leagues, the Athletics Division manages the tennis program at Quigley Park. This program is provided on a contractual basis with the goal of offering a variety of tennis programs and events for all abilities and levels of play and to present a professional tennis support staff in a clean and well-organized facility. The City also provides concession items as well as courteous customer service during peak operating hours.

Recreational Programs, Camps and Aftercare:

The City is proud to offer a variety of recreational, educational and cultural enrichment classes, camps and programs year-round as well as a variety of fitness programs and senior activities. Our programming doesn't stop there as we also offer aftercare, holiday camps and summer camp programs.

  • Clues in the Park: this family-friendly activity takes you to our City parks to find a clue, which will help solve the riddle for the month.

Senior/Active Adult Programs:

The City of Parkland is proud to provide a variety of programs and fitness classes for the seniors and active adults in our community. Some of these activities are offered through the City's CDBG grant. These grant funded programs are free of charge and eligible for Parkland residents aged 62 and over. Advance registration is required to enter the lottery as space is limited.

Special Events:

The City hosts a wide variety of special events for residents throughout the year. Events include: one of Broward County’s largest Farmers’ Market, Halloween Festival, Movies in the Park, Snowfest, Community Carnival and a variety of others. Events such as these provide residents a place to gather for a good time with friends and family. This division also is responsible for processing and coordinating special event permits for local organizations and groups that want to host their own event in the City of Parkland.

Pavilion Rentals:

Pavilions are available for Parkland residents at several parks throughout the City: Pine Trails Park, Terramar Park, Liberty Park and the Equestrian Center at Temple Park. Reservation permits are required when utilizing on weekend and City Holidays. The pavilions are on a first-come, first-serve basis during the week.

Park Support

The division consists of the City's park rangers and is responsible for supervising all activities and permits at all City park facilities. The park rangers ensures park rules and regulations are adhered to for the fun, enjoyment and safety of park patrons.
