How do I search the catalog?

To search the library’s catalog, which is the system of all the books, movies, audiobooks, eBooks, and other materials that we offer, please follow the directions below:

Go to the library homepage. We highly recommend that you bookmark or favorite this page for your convenience.

  1. On the homepage, click the "Search the Catalog" button, or click on the "Catalog and Account" tab on the left-side of the page. The Search the Catalog button will take you directly to our catalog. The Catalog and Account tab will take you to an informational page about your account information and the types of materials we loan at the library.
  2. On the catalog screen, you will see the search bar, where you can type in the name of a material (such as a book, eBook, audiobook, movie, TV show, comic, or song), the name of an author, or the subject. You may also narrow your search results based on the title, author, or subject of what you are looking for by clicking on the "anywhere" button. You will see a drop-down menu with radio buttons for anywhere, title, author, and subject.
  3. You can further narrow your search based on a reading program such as Accelerated Reader by clicking on the reading program tab below the search bar.
  4. Once you search for a material, the results will be shown to you.  You can further narrow your results with the filters on the left-side of the screen. These filters include availability, format, genre, and more.

How do I access my account?

To access the account you created when you registered for a library card, please follow the directions below:

  1. Access the catalog site by going to the library homepage at cityofparkland.org/library. Click on the "Search the Catalog" button.
  2. Once you are at the catalog site, look at the top part of the page where the library’s name, address, and number are printed. Below this information, you will 2 blue buttons: "sign in" and "my account"
  3. Click "sign in" and fill in your login name and password.
    Your login name is your unique library card number that starts with either an A or a C (the letter is included in the number).
    Your password is the last four digits of the phone number you used to create the account. If you do not remember the phone number you used, please call the library at 954.757.4200 and we will retrieve it for you.
  4. Now that you are logged in, you can see your profile with "my account."

How do I renew items?

To renew an item such as a book or movie, you can either call the library and state your request or do it yourself on the catalog site. Please see the renewal conditions to learn more about how renewals work. You cannot renew online items such as eBooks.

  1. Access your library account on the catalog site. See the instructions above to learn how to access your account.
  2. Go to my account and scroll down to "current transactions," where you will see all the items you have checked out.
  3. Click "renew" next to the item you wish to renew.

How do I reserve items?

To reserve an item such as a book or movie, you can either call the library and state your request or do it yourself on the catalog site. Please see the reserve conditions to learn more about how reserves work. You do not need to reserve online items such as eBooks.

  1. Access your library account on the catalog site. See the instructions above to learn how to access your account.
  2. Search the catalog for the item you want to reserve.
  3. Once you find the item, click on its title. You will see a new screen with details about the item. You may also see that there is more than one item in stock.
  4. Click the small box to the left of the item’s location. The box is found in the white row, not the grey one.
    If there are multiple items,
  5. Once you click the box, a check (tick mark) should appear. You will see an orange button below that says "Reserve."
  6. Click "Reserve" to reserve the items that you selected.
  7. Repeat this process to reserve other items.
  8. To check the items you put on hold, go to "my account."

How do I download eBooks, movies, and other online items?

The Parkland Library provides access to thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, recordings, TV shows, comics, and more. Your library card gives you access to the two of our largest electronic libraries - HooplaDigital and Cloud Library.

To access HooplaDigital or Cloud Library, you must set up an account. You will need the following:

  • Your unique library card number found on the back of your library card and beginning with either an "A" or a "C")
  • Your pin number, which is the last four digits of the phone number you used to set up the account.
  • An email address

You can download the HooplaDigital or Cloud Library app to your smart device. You can search their catalogs for an item of interest and download it. Please make sure that you have enough storage on your smart device.

How do I get to the library?

We openly welcome everyone to come to the library. Below are some directions to help you find it.

  • Our address is 6620 N. University Drive, Parkland, Florida 33067.
  • The Parkland Library is inside the City of Parkland Municipal Complex, found at the intersection of N. University Drive and Holmberg Road.
  • From the entrance to the complex, make the first right and pass by City Hall. The library is the building next to City Hall.
